The Valdese Town Council wishes to hear your thoughts and concerns regarding all town operations. If you have a comment to share during the Town Council Meetings, you can sign up to speak in advance or the night of the meeting with the Town Clerk. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-1011 of the Town of Valdese Code of Ordinances, there shall be a regular meeting of the council at the town hall, on the first Monday of each month, at 6:00 p.m., unless another place, date, or time shall be designated.

A "sunshine list" for North Carolina government is typically a list of individuals or organizations that have requested to receive public meeting notices and other information from a specific local government body. These lists are required by state law and are a way for people to stay informed about government activities without having to constantly check websites or call local offices. The term is often used for email lists but can also apply to other notification systems provided by towns and counties.
How it works:
State law: North Carolina General Statutes (NCGS) 143-318.12 requires public bodies to provide meeting notices to anyone who requests them.
Local implementation: Many city and county governments provide a "Sunshine List" as a way to fulfill this requirement.
Purpose: It provides a direct and easy way for residents, business owners, and others to receive updates on things like: Meeting agendas, Public hearing notices, Special meeting notices, Meeting cancellations
Subscription: To join, contact the town clerk by following this link and request to be added to the "sunshine list".
