Dental Insurance – Coverage includes payment of reasonable charges for:
- 100% for routine preventive care, such as oral exams, cleaning, and bite-wing x-rays. This is limited to two visits per year for each covered person. Visits must be 6 months apart
- 80% (after deductible) Basic Restorative Care, such as fillings, oral surgery and extractions
- 50%(after deductible) Major Restorative Care, such as crowns, dentures, bridges
- Orthodontia 50% (after deductible) limited to dependent children to age 26, lifetime Maximum $1,000.

Life Insurance – The Town provides each employee with the basic term life insurance in an amount equal to one and one-half times the annual salary.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – This program is available to all full-time Town employees and their dependants through a local professional occupational counseling service. It provides service to help resolve problems which may be affecting job performance, relationships, and financial concerns. Information is held in complete confidence. Tuition Assistance – Upon successful completion of college-level courses related to Town jobs, Town of Valdese may reimburse a portion on your tuition, book expenses and fees.

Credit Union – North Carolina Local Government Employees’ Credit Union offers a variety of savings, loans and other financial services.
Deferred Compensation – Two programs available - PEBSCO and 401K (www.nc401k.prudential.com). These plans allow you to set aside a portion of your salary to supplement retirement income. Maximum amounts are set by the IRS.
Retirement – Full-time employees participate in the North Carolina Local Government Employees’ Retirement Plan (www.nctreasurer.com). This plan provides career employees with a financially secure retirement. You contribute a percentage of your annual salary and the Town contributes a percentage for you. After five years of creditable service, you will become eligible for retirement benefits. Benefits include a life insurance payment and a permanent disability provision.
Pre-Tax Premium Cafeteria – The plan provides the medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums deducted from your paycheck will be before state, federal or FICA taxes are calculated. This results in less tax taken from your paycheck and more take-home pay.
Payroll Deductions – You may authorize payroll deductions for United Way or any insurance companies which sell additional medical, life, short-term disability, accident, cancer, hospitalization, intense care plans, deferred comp, and 401K. Savings deposits are available for payroll deductions through the Town.
Longevity Pay – After five years of continuous service, employees who work full-time may be compensated for years of continuous service by payment of a longevity supplement based on continuous years, payable on the employee’s anniversary date.
Sick Leave – Full-time employees shall earn one day of sick leave a month, with no maximum accrual.
Vacation Leave – Full-time employees earn from 10 to 20 days of vacation each year based on years of continuous service.
